Astronaut Charlie Walker, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, August 18, 2012
On August 18, 2012, retired astronaut Charlie Walker appeared in the Astronaut Encounter at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Commercial industry s first astronaut, Walker flew on three Space Shuttle missions STS41D in 1984, STS51D in 1985 and STS61B in 1985. Walker flew on those missions as a Payload Specialist representing McDonnellDouglas. He designed their Electrophoresis Operations in Space experiment. He trained four Shuttle crews to perform the experiment, then performed it himself
