The Sound We See: A Somerset County Symphony
The Sound We See is an international series of 24minute films based on the City Symphonies, avantgarde black and white silent motion pictures from the 1920s that captured the spirit and uniqueness of a place by assembling images of everyday life there. Facilitated by Somerset Film and Echo Park Film Center, the project invited 32 emerging filmmakers to explore their environment using Super 8 analogue technology, ecofriendly processing techniques and collaborative creative process. The result is a spectacular cinematic journey celebrating the people and places of Somerset County. The Sound We See: A Somerset County Symphony takes its place in a series of new City Symphonies including Los Angeles, Rotterdam, Hanoi, Guwahati and Old Crow. The film will show at festivals, cinemas, museums, educational facilities and community centres around the world. This project was made possible thanks to generous support from The British Council and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
