Thank you everyone for watching and for comments All the best Hermann Seeger was born at Halberstadt, Germany on 15 October 1857 and became a gifted painter and engraver of figurative paintings, genre scenes and landscapes. At the age of eighteen he moved to Halle, to study Philosophy and following his graduation he returned to Halberstadt to become a teacher although he was unsatisfied in this role. Seeger subsequently turned to Art and enrolled at the Berlin Academy where he studied under Paul Thurmann and Karl Gussow and achieved his diploma in 1885 with the financial support of his siblings. He met his future wife, Marie Cramer, in Berlin, who was later to bear four children. Seeger remained in Berlin painting and undertook commissions for graphic illustrations. However, it was as a painter of children playing on beaches and in sand dunes such as the present example for which he is chiefly known. He had a particular affinity for the Baltic Coast and the
