Playdate hands on: Indie handheld made for indie games
We first saw the indie handheld Playdate back in 2019. The pandemic and supply issues delayed the device, made by Mac software makers Panic along with Teenage Engineering, but it s finally nearing release. This is a truly niche device, a small gameboyesque console based around a crank, that will sell for 179, and come with a steady stream of 24 indie games, releasing 2 a week, with a possibility of future seasons. It s expensive, and kind of impractical, but also delightful We kind of love it. Get More Engadget: Like us on Facebook: Follow us on Twitter: Follow us on Instagram: Read more:
