The Convict is a popular cichlid, and has been swimming around in many of our aquariums. This temperamental cichlid was known to us as Cryptoheros nigrofasciatus. In 2007, SchmitterSoto revised this species into three different species and even classified it into a new genus. This has caused quite a bit of confusion among many aquarists. I have tried in this video to make it a little clearer, but above all to show you these beautiful fish in their natural habitat. Enjoy.
