In the first year of the Boston Celtics Big 3 featuring Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, the team had a leaguebest 6616 record and reached the 2008 NBA Finals to face Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. In the third quarter of Game 1, Pierce went down with what seemed to be a serious leg injury that required a wheelchair, only to return a few minutes later to lead the Celtics to a 9888 win.
