Black Pudding throwing World Championships 2017
Legend has it that the contest celebrates the ancient rivalry that exists between Lancashire and Yorkshire, utilising the food from each of these northern counties. The puddings weigh around three kilograms and their targets sit 20 feet (just over 6 meters) high perched on a 20 foot high plinth. Each contestant has three throws. Whoever can dislodge the most Yorkshire puddings is the winner. After several hours of fierce competition, four (4) competitors each scoring 3 points were tied in first place before 45yearold Nick Pennel made his throw before the 4pm deadline.
