Ovechkins Legendary 4 Goal Game vs. MTL (1, 31, 2008)

January 31, 2008 If you could single out one game as Alex Ovechkin s greatest performance, it should probably be this one. Ovi singlehandedly turned an otherwise typical Thursday night game into an alltime classic with a dominating performance. In addition to scoring his second 4goal game in 34 days, he dished out an assist and delivered 3 thunderous hits to lead the Capitals to an overtime win. It is the perfect encapsulation of the Great 8 at his peak he could run you over one shift then score on you the next. And if that wasn t impressive enough, he did all this with a broken nose for half the game. It was truly spectacular to watch, and for all the fanfare he gets these days, I hope people never forget how damn unstoppable he was in his early years.
