Euronaut the worldwide most sophisticated amateur built submarine from Germany

Euronaut is a private project of a research and diver support submarine around Carsten Standfuss a German naval architect. It has been designed between 1988 and 2000. Then it took another 12 years to build it on holidays, weekends and after work. Most systems on board are second hand and homebuilt. The sub has overall length of 16 m (52 ft), surface displacement of 57 tons and is capaple of diving up to 250 m (820 ft). Transit speed is up to 6 knots with a 190 hp diesel engine.
