Winter Bushcraft First Fire at Camp Firepit Heat Reflector, Entry 6 Building Camp Deadhorse
In this video, I return to camp and build the shelter s firepit and heat reflector, and test it by finally lighting the first fire at camp in over a year of building. After making my way to camp through knee deep snow, I got to work shovelling out the front of the shelter. I cleared an area for the firepit, found and dug up the rock pile I collected before winter, and threw together a quick fire ring with an open front. After, I used some of the logs from my wood storage and cut them into long stakes, and pounded them in with my axe (after digging out over a foot of ice off camera). I then used the bucksaw to cut logs to length and stacked them inbetween the stakes, tying it all together with paracord making sure to add in the drying string which was suggested many times in past videos. A few days later, I returned to camp right as a cold snap came through the area bringing near 50C temperatures over the next four days.
