China is reportedly preparing to back up its threat to the United States on Taiwan that it would perish by fire if it provokes Beijing. It will conduct military drills on Saturday ahead of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi s planned visit to Taipei. Beijing promises firm and resolute measures to safeguard national sovereignty, according to Chinas Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian. China wont rule out using force to prevent Taiwans formal independence.
