Rally In Siegen AKA Rally (1968)

VS Exterior of Siegerland Hall where the fascist National Democratic Party, NDP of North RhineWestphalia is holding a rally. The area is sealed off with barbed wire and riot police are on duty to hold back a demonstration against the rally. MS NDP Party Chief, Adolf von Thadden, surveying the poorly attended meeting from the platform. VS Outside the hall, protestors try to stop the neoNazi delegates reaching the rally and the hall stewards barge into the crowd to make way for their members. The demonstration soon turns into a riot as the crowd is pushed into the barbed wire. The riot police move in and make arrests as reinforcements wearing gas masks run into the area. Tear gas clouds hang in the air and water cannon are brought in to dispel the crowd. (Reports said that 60 people were injured). MS Press photographers in helmet take photos
