It is a film adaptation of Shakespeare s play Titus Andronicus, directed by Julie Taymor, starring Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Lange, Harry Lennix and Laura Fraser. A major component of the film is the mixing of the old and to Taymor, this anachronistic structure was created so as to emphasise the timelessness of the violence on show in the film, to suggest that violence is universal to all humanity, at all times
