Svetlana A Tango by Olga Tikhovidova, Performed by QTANGO with Svetlana Pekovic William Gruner
The tango Svetlana was composed by Olga Tikhovidova in 2011. Early in 2010, she visited a cafe where QTANGO was performing and saw Svetlana Petkovic dancing Argentine Tango. Olga fell in love with the music and the dance immediately. Svetlana and Olga would speak later that night and find they had much in common: Olga had stopped playing violin for more than two years and hadn t composed in more than eight. Sveltana had given up dancing for more than ten years and had returned to it less than a year before the night she met Olga. They shared similar childhoods, training and artistic success, but, most noteworthy, they shared a similar sorrow: the loss of artistic expression in their lives. This song was composed as a celebration of what tango can awaken in us, and what we can awaken in each other. Olga is the Concert Master for QTANGO s fourteenpiece ensemble and has performed with QTANGO since 2010. This video was shot at the KiMo
