Antonio Vivaldi, arr. Nagy: Winter Concerto, I. Allegro non molto
Antonio Vivaldi, arr. Nagy: Winter Concerto, I. Allegro non molto Live Performance from Seasons Transformed, April 13, 2024 Performers: Rebecca Landell, viola da gamba Shelby Yamin Julie Andrijeski, violins Mark Edwards, harpsichord For Seasons Transformed, Artistic Director Debra Nagy daringly rearranged Autumn, Winter, and Spring for an ensemble of soloists, dividing up the material originally written for solo violin to be passed between two violins, oboe, flute, bassoon, harpsichord, and viola da gamba. Historically, Vivaldis Seasons concertos (particularly Spring) were frequently heard at Pariss Le Concert Spirituel in their original forms and they were transformed by other composers over several decades. Seasons Transformed brings to light the French history of adapting Vivaldis Seasons and the inclusion of wind instruments gives these performances a uniquely Gallic flair. Besides, why should violinists have all the fun Audio by Andrew Tripp Video by Erica Brenner
