,, , , The Triumph is a country dance that first appears in the formative Scottish Country Dance repertoire in the 1790s. By 1808 a version appeared in Cornwall and is recorded in the notebook of John Old Dancing master. It evolved within living tradition in Cornwall and by the time it was recorded from Mrs Baker of Rilla Mill in 1981 it was quite a distinctive dance with a lively stamphop, hornepipe step.
