Ov Pain Daytripping (offical video)

Directed by Joshua Watson Daytripping is the second single from Dunedin, Melbourne experimental darkwave duo Ov Pains (Tim Player and Renee Barrance) upcoming record sophomore album The Churning Blue of Noon (out July 2021 on It Records). The song is an incantation riding on a rising wave of drone synth and insistent drums. Mixing the Coldwave aesthetic of their older work with a shoegaze, drone psychedelia. Daytripping is probably the most straightforward song we d written for a while. If my memory serves me correctly I think we wrote everything, save the vocallyrics, on the spot. It just came out more or less fully formed. I think we were both revved up about trying to write a little banger that could sit beside or Mars or This Heat s Repeat. Starting with a snareless rock beat we add layer after layer. Renee s vocals are at some kind of career best here.
