the Microphones the Glow pt. 2 live, Lexington, KY, Nov. 4th, 2000

This is me playing my new song the Glow pt. 2 a few days after it was written, before it was recorded, at a sports bar called Detour or something in Lexington, Kentucky on November 4th, 2000. Mirah and I were on tour together around North America. Our shows were pretty much all like this: 2 innocent little acoustic dweebs from Olympia sparring with halfinterested party audiences in unsuitable settings. It was fun. This night the bar wouldn t turn off the TVs and there was a reality show on called Battle Bots which I thought was funny and absurd and I wouldn t stop talking about it. It was a rough show and I m glad this video exists. I love to have documented proof of the reality of the reception that this song (and Mirah and I in general) got at the time. It was tough and strange, and it got easier later. I feel lucky to have gotten to live this life, bumping my head against experiences and going forward in my chosen direction anyway. The album quo
