It has evolved from the 300s Tuscan. In this language the poet Dante Alighieri wrote the Divina Commedia. From that moment the 300s Tuscan started to be used as a language of the culture in Italy, and Tuscan dialects began to evolve on the one hand, and the Standard Italian on the other.
