(4 Sep 1997) T, I: 10:58:46 At least six people were killed and over a hundred and sixty wounded on Thursday (04, 09) in a multiple suicide bombing at an outdoor crowded pedestrian mall in central Jerusalem. The Islamic radical movement HAMAS claimed responsibility for the blast. Israel immediately reimposed its tight closure on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, barring all Palestinians from entering Israel. Israel also imposed an internal closure, barring Palestinians from travelling between towns and villages in the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority has reacted quickly, condemning the bombing and then calling on Israel not to respond by imposing further sanctions on the Palestinians.
