Helicopter Village (1953)
Nether Compton, Somerset. Aerial shots of a village in Somerset as we fly overhead in a Westland WS51 Mk1 Dragonfly helicopter. We land in the garden of an unnamed business man who is an executive of a factory some miles away. The man says goodbye to his wife and children on the doorstep of their country home and gets into the helicopter. The craft takes off and we see more aerial shots as we fly over the countryside. The man takes out his newspaper and reads. We come down to land in the grounds of the factory. Note: judging by notes and a news cutting on file, this seems to be a fictional story The man seen is probably Mr HJ Penrose, chief test pilot for Westland Aircraft, or could be another test pilot, Roy Bradley. It is probably Bradley s home seen here. FILM A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV. IT S FULL OF GREAT DOCUMENTARIES, FASCINATING INTERVIEWS, AND CLASSIC MOVIES.
