Sheffield, Yorkshire. Start of the FA (Football Association) Cup semifinals between Birmingham City and Sunderland. GV. Birmingham in white shorts kicking off from left to right. Sunderland in black shorts and striped shirts. They kick off and the ball goes down field and runs out to their right winger Gordon Astall who runs on and shoots. The goalkeeper saves and clears. The ball comes across the goal area and Gilbert Merrick runs out and tips it away from the Sunderland goal. It runs loose and is kicked back into the goal mouth but goes wide. CU.
