This 2007 research expedition to explore for new species aboard the R, V Presbitero began in the port of Manila and then moved south through the Sulu Sea to the study site, southeast of the Sulu Archipelago. The bottom in this area falls off abruptly to the sea floor, 5, 000 meters below.
