Alanis Morissette Canadian anthem ( O Canada) Ottawa Senators first game 1992
Alanis Morissette on 8 October 1992 sings the Canadian anthem prior to the start of the NHL game between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens. This was Ottawa s first NHL game in their return to the league. It was an epic evening that saw the Sens defeat the Habs, but Alanis helped electrify the Ottawa Civic Centre prior to the start of the game. Alanis was on the cusp of international stardom, having grown up just feet from the Civic Centre. She attended Glebe High School, and sang at Ottawa 67s games in the same building, while her pop music career built. As the inhouse PA announcer mentions, her new album (Now is the Time) was being launched the same day. As broadcast on CBCTV as part of Hockey Night in Canada.
