Ever loyal to cinematic creation, CHANEL is a partner of the film Jeanne du Barry, directed by Maïwenn, which opened the 76th Cannes Film Festival. CHANEL has accompanied the production of this film, notably through six costumes specially designed by the House and loans of CHANEL High Jewellery. Under the impetus of Virginie Viard, the film s costume designer, Jürgen Doering, has revisited pieces from the CHANEL collections, modernising the sumptuous spirit of 18th century dresses. For her sixth fulllength feature film, the director has chosen to tell the story of Jeanne du Barry, King Louis XVs last mistress, who was also a lover of fashion, art and literature, played by Maïwenn on screen.
