Huey Mnemonic Transmutation (taken from the Tresor 30 boxset)

Drawing inspiration from science fiction, Black liberation, and the sounds of Detroit, Huey Mnemonic designs a sound that expands Black consciousness and pushes back against the whitewashing in dance music. The Motor Citybased producer and sometimes DJ takes his name from Huey P. Newton and the 1995 cyberpunk film Johnny Mnemonic, a cult classic portraying a dystopian future controlled by megacorporations. Mnemonic recently launched his Subsonic Ebonics label with the Virtuosity EP. Preluding the Tresor 30 compilation, Huey Mnemonic composes Transmutation a glistening and highspirited shuffling dancefloor rhythm track, on which the Talking Drum meets TR909 patterns, creating an instrumental bridge between West Africa and Detroit.
