Sennheiser MD 421 II vs Shure SM57 Dynamic Mics Shootout on Upright Bass Want 2 Check Short and Sweet Reviews In this video, we record double bass with two dynamic microphones: the Sennheiser MD421II and the Shure SM57. Each mic is placed about 9 inches from the bridge of the bass and record the exact same performance. I tried to place them as close together as possible, each mic is aligned somewhere between the bridge and the left fhole, but closer to the bridge. There is no EQ or any processing involved in the recording, which was made using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and Cubase.
