Article 4 This month we will add the slap stroke to our sound set. This is very similar to the slap stroke one might find on Congas or Djembe and involves a stroke with a sharp grabbing motion that creates a sharp staccato accent. After looking at some accent patterns involving the slap stroke we will shift on to the more detailed version of the Martillo rhythm which involves using the thumb and fingertips of the left hand.
