Bab Aziz movie trailer, Nacer Khemir, 15 years Festival Cinéma Arabe
Cinéma Arabe in retrospective: Bab Aziz, Nacer Khemir, Tunesia, France, 2005, drama, 98 min. , Arabic, Persian spoken English subtitles Screening: fri 1005, 18:45 Rialto Amsterdam A blind sufi takes his lively granddaughter to a sufi ceremony that takes place only once every 30 years. In order to get to this very special event, they first have to cross a vast desert. Along the journey, the grandfather recounts magical tales, and they encounter many mystical inhabitants of the desert. The structure of a frame story that encloses other tales full of mysticism and ageold sufi wisdom makes BabAziz like an Arabian Dream, a tale from 1001 Nights, but most of all an impressive portrait of the desert and its legends.
