New NY Bridge Conceptual Rendering
After more than a decade of delay, the project to replace the Tappan Zee is underway. The new bridge will mean less congestion for motorists, with eight traffic lanes, four breakdown, emergency lanes and stateoftheart traffic monitoring systems, as well as dedicated commuter bus lanes on the day it opens. The twinspan crossing is designed to last one hundred years without major structural maintenance and will be completed in 2018.
