Building a Nanodrop Style UV, Vis Spectrometer
Spectrometers are one of the most ubiquitous tools in most labs because an enormous amount of information about a substance can be gleaned from how it interacts with various parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. But for as common as they are, the price tag on a new spectrometer can be massive. Today we go through a bit of theory on the electromagnetic spectrum so we understand spectrometery, and then build a little nanodropesq spectrometer for use in the lab. While it s still a work in progress, it s more than sufficient to preform many basic tests and experiments. Applied science Zeeman effect: Hackteria: SVG file of design: Webcam:
