JODI BONASSI : INTERCONNECTED

Film by Eric Minh Swenson. Jodi Bonassi : I am a Southern California artist, into people and places. As an art maker, drawing informs my painting and vice a versa. I draw into my paintings as I work, using live sketches I create while out, my own cell phone references taken on impulse of the urban environment, old family photos and made up stream of consciousness. Mixed together into an earthly stew, my view of people and the world is perceived. I am a believer in public transportation, often sketching the riders on the metro. I also paint or draw other artists in my art community that have touched my life. This mix of people and places is an earthly stew based on the joys of observation, interaction and listening. The 21st century is all about collaboration. WE are all connected and this is what I wish to share. I am obsessed by pattern, so my work often has a surreal feeling of motion to it, especially the floors. The floors or foreground represents the journey we all take. Process is
