1940s De Armond Electromechanical Tremolo on De Livery
After years of hunting for a genuine DeArmond Tremolo, and even scratchbuilding two clones, I finally got the opportunity to work on a real one. The unit as received had a functioning motor, but nothing else it was a great excuse to completely disassemble the unit, replace the power cord and Intensity pot, refill the little brass pot with Magic Tremolo Fluid, adjust the mechanism and add a spring to retain the eccentric wheel against the tapered drive spindle. Naturally, once completed, a full audio test was done to verify the function of the Speed and Intensity adjustments. The second video features an indepth tour of the two electromechanical tremolo clones I built, with a demonstration of their operation at different speeds.
