Facilities are open, but dont forget your Northwest Forest Pass The journey kicks off with a scenic 3mile stretch, where the trail winds alongside the Taylor River through a lush, ferndraped forest that feels straight out of a fairytale. Keep your eyes peeled about 100 feet before the wooden bridgeyoull spot a cairn marking the start of the unmarked trail to Marten Lake. Now, heres where things get fun: its steep, rugged, and youll be scrambling over downed trees and rocks. Youll briefly emerge from the forest canopy into an open field, where the trail narrows.
