The Novo Band was originally the Novo Cabaret, a cabaret group from the Herman Jordan Lyceum in Utrecht, which consists of the brothers Bas and Ernst Teule and Johannes Blanksma. With their new name the Novo Band, they registered for an amateur festival in the Utrecht Center t Hoogt. The funky style was initially influenced by Earth, Wind Fire, George Duke and Stevie Wonder.
