The CCR Breakup Timeline Explained
Creedence Clearwater Revival s relatively short life as a band began in a junior high school band room in El Cerrito, California. Drummer Doug Cosmo Clifford says he remembers approaching John Fogerty, who was at the piano, and telling him he was a good musician, according to Louder Sound. The two 14yearolds started the band then and there. Clifford s friend Stu Cook joined, first playing piano, then bass. John s older brother Tom also joined. The band signed to independent label Fantasy Records, and the rest was history. CCR released hit after hit. Despite their massive popularity as a group, the individual members weren t particularly well known, so their solo careers after the band broke up had wildly varying degrees of success. The band s breakup and the longstanding feud that followed have become the stuff of music legend. Here s the full timeline, explained.
