Old Pistol Spark Lighter Restoration
Restoration of an old pistol spark lighter. I will restore this rusty tool and ignite my salute cannon when it is fully repaired. ABOUT THE OLD PISTOL SPARK LIGHTER I got this pistol spark lighter from a barn sale here in Sweden. I only paid 1 for it. My guess is that it is from the mid 1980s and have been used to ignite a gas stove back in the days. THE RESTORATION PROCESS I started by removing the crispy paint from the pistol spark lighter so I could see how to disassemble it. After removing the paint I drilled out the 3 rivets holding it together. Then I removed the trigger, trigger arm, spring, flint and flint wheel. I gave the pistol lighter frame a good sandblasting and cleaned all the small parts in my vibrating tumbler. There were some big dents on the pistol frame. I used a small hammer to straighten them out and grinded the metal with grit 800 to remove the hammer marks. I blackened some of the small metal parts using a gun blueish product and polished the trigger
