1023 J. S. Bach Violin Sonata in E minor, BWV 1023 Penelope Spencer David Roblou
This E minor sonata has a structural mind of its own opening with a quasi improvisational preludiocumtoccata over an implacable pedal E which generates a struggle rich in harmonic fantasy. It s followed by a rhythmically supple, melodically wistful notquite Adagio, and then, as if reinventing itself as a sonata da camera, continues with two dance movements: a sturdy Allemanda and a skipping, if thoughtful, Gigue.
