Everyone knows shields are great, particularly on the battlefield. In a duel however, and particularly for civilian selfdefense in medieval times or a travelling adventurer in a fantasy setting, they are a clunky and cumbersome to haul around. Bucklers are much more practical for that purpose, but they are awfully small and don t cover much. But what about a spiked arm shield that acts as a secondary weapon This type is sometimes called Hungarian shield, and it s quite rare in historical depictions.
