Banjo Damballah
Dambala, a powerful lwa (spirit) known in both rada and petwo nanchons, appears in serpentine form. I knew I would encounter him on my visit to Haiti, and it happened on the morning of Feb. 3, 2013, the day of Kanaval in Jakmel, when I stepped out into the street about 8 a. m. and the first thing I saw was this man playing banjo and singing.
