Why black people in Britain might prefer group activities, rather than hobbies pursued in private

It has long been observed that people in this country of African and Caribbean heritage seem to avoid quiet pastimes pursued in solitude, and would rather take part in communal hobbies. So it is that stamp collecting, reading and handicrafts are, as a rule, less popular than visiting a gymnasium.
