Ronnie Delinquents Bad Neighborhood 1957

One of the very first records by Dr. John, Bad Neighborhood is a slice of late 50s pop with some very funky overtones. Cut for JC Records in 1957, it has a decidedly Ray Charles feel, especially the electric piano work, which is reminiscent of What d I Lyrically (especially with the sound effects of pinball machines and pool shooting), it s an accurate and somewhat whimsical portrait of the typical seedy, innercity environment that the young Dr. John inhabited in 1950s New Orleans. It s almost a novelty record, really, but a great All Music
