In 1974, Tobe Hooper unleashed a small horror film on an unsuspecting public. The film would go on to become one of the staples of 70s horror, and created a horror icon. The film, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, followed a group of teens driving through a small town in Texas. There they encounter the Sawyer family, a cannibalistic group that took delight in torturing their victims before devouring them. Among the group was a hulking butcher known as Leatherface, who would create masks from the skin of his victims, and used a chainsaw to terrorize those unfortunate enough to venture near his home. The film would spawn a number of sequels and remakes, but still remains a much loved classic.
