Casey Rankin: The Japanese American

The story of a musician, a Vietnam veteran, and composer of one of the greatest mecha openings of all time. About this video I first started looking into Casey Rankin around 2017 and was shocked to find how scarce any information was on him. He didn t have an English wikipedia page and his Japanese wiki page only gave a brief glimpse into his life. After a year of writing this, finding Japanese articles and interviews and having them translated, as well as contacting Casey s son Eric, I finally got a dynamic look into Casey s life. At first, I felt this story was too special for just a video and considered making it a panel at an anime convention. Those don t exist anymore so I pitched it to Crunchyroll when they announced open submission. They were interested at first then ghosted me. Wanting to get back into making regular content I decided to just buckle down and start recording.
