John Trenchard (Aneurin Barnard) is an orphan who dreams of finding Blackbeard s riches and falls for Grace (Sophie Cookson), who also happens to be the daughter of his sworn enemy, the local magistrate Mohune (Ben Chaplin). Based on Meade Falkner s novel, Moonfleet, about 19th century smuggling on the Dorset coast. Sophie Cookson is best known for portraying secret agent Roxy in the 2014 spy film Kingsman: The Secret Service and its 2017 sequel Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle and as Sidney Pierce in the Netflix series Gypsy.
