Making Oak Shafted Arrows for a Heavy Draw Weight Flatbow. Happy the Man
Making Oak Shafted Arrows with Gary Williamson, Shoot Captain of Mercian Bowmen, a fellowship of archers who practise the sport of roving marks an ancient form of competitive archery calling for long distance accuracy with bow and arrow. I spend the day filming a video portrait of my good friend Mr Gary Williamson as he makes oak shafted arrows for his Joe Gibbs 93lb 30 flatbow. From an oak plank he cuts, planes and sands an arrow shaft which he then spines and makes up into an arrow for roving marks.
