Sweet Exorcist ( Pedro Costa, 2012)

A participant in a coup détat by young commissioned officers, Ventura loses his way within the woods. Eventually, Ventura is admitted into a mental hospital where he has conversations with ghosts of the past in the hospitalselevator. Sweet Exorcism, a short feature from the movie Historic Center, also signed by Aki Kaurismäki, Manoel de Oliveira and Victor Erice, is similar, concerning its concept, to Tarrafal, The Rabbit Hunters and Our Man. Besides being a preamble to Horse Money (2014), Pedro Costas following film, it is also an exploration of the meanings that editing can attribute to the cinematographic image, and a reflection on the motifs the filmmaker would subsequently explore in the fulllength feature film format.
