The body of a pregnant woman without head and arms is found in a well. The investigation centres on a military unit. The film is a classic in its genre (Thriller, Mystery, JHorror), and was made during the Golden Age of Japanese cinema by the Shintoho movie studio (one of Japan s big six ) which was founded by defectors from the original Toho company, and known primarily for exploitation cinema. The film was a success in Japan, and for a followup the reins were passed to acclaimed director Nobuo Nakagawa who within a year had made Kenpei to yurei ( The Military Policeman and the Ghost ).
