Chiropody (1954)
Chelsea, London. Sequence showing a couple dancing in a ballroom. C, U of their dancing feet; the woman wears strappy highheeled shoes. We then see the same woman standing in the kitchen at the gas stove; pan down to show she is wearing sensible flatties (yuck). Another close shot shows her feet in tatty and worn out shoes. These can be damaging to feet if they offer no support. A girl sits in a living room, giving her feet a good scrub with a scrubbing brush. Then she rubs her feet over a loofah and finally rolls them over a cycle handlebar grip on a piece of string to massage them. At Chelsea Polytechnic chiropody department we see a woman drawing a shape on a girl s leg to show where the muscles are that control foot movements. She then outlines more muscles on the girl s instep. C, U of a foot in a cramped shoe, with the bottom sole cut away to show the squashed toes.
