Coal to replace natural gas when Germany facing huge energy shortage amid Nordstream crisis
Germany decides to reduce its production of electricity generated by natural gas to cut its consumption, which is a bitter but necessary move. Its a call back to Russias halfcut gas flow last week, and Habeck, whos from the Greens, promised the existing local coal plants will be upgraded temporarily compensate for the decline of energy production from gas. Habeck announced other measures, including a gas auction model which encourages industries to save gas by giving rewards from the government.
